
This recipe was posted as a side dish to Feijoada, they go perfect together! If you like your collard greens more tender you will need to increase cooking time and add a bit of water as needed. I think they look and taste best when they are briefly tossed in hot oil and not over cooked.

Sauteed Collard Greens
A perfect side dish for feijoada. Thinly sliced sauteed collard greens garnished with bacon.
Ingredients
- 2 Heads collard greens
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 ts salt or to taste
- 1 ts garlic powder
Instructions
- In a frying pan, heat olive oil and add the collard greens. Add salt and garlic powder. Cook for about 5-7 minutes. Add 1-2 tbsp of water if they get too dry and you like it more tender. Keep tossing until greens are cooked.Serve immediately. You can garnish with cooked bacon on top.
- How to prep the greens:Remove the core of the green before cutting.
- Roll up all the collard leaves together and slice it very thin.
Notes
You can also use butter or coconut oil instead of olive oil.
